Voluntary participation

Mediation is voluntary.  All parties sign an agreement to mediate.  Any party, including me as the mediator, can withdraw or pause the mediation if they feel the process is not constructive.

Mutual Respect

Mediation is based on mutual respect and reaching a win-win solution for everyone.  It is not a process where we settle scores or entertain hidden agendas.

Individual Responsibility

It is not my responsibility as the mediator to ensure that parties reach an agreement.  It is my responsibility to guide parties through the mediation process and assist them to make responsible decisions.
